Tatami Small Silk Scarf – Red

Tatami Small Silk Scarf – Red

This handmade scarf is created by Ellen Martin, an Edinburgh-based designer who brings her sketches and collages to life in hand-printed silk. It's a versatile accessory that can be knotted around the neck or used as a headband – the perfect gift for yourself or a loved one.

Ellen specialises in dyed, printed textiles, with a focus on hand drawn designs inspired by her surroundings and Japanese techniques. During her art degree in Glasgow, she had the opportunity to travel to Kyoto to master katazome, a resist-dyeing method which she now uses in her work. This influence can be seen on the silken red Tatami scarf, with its repeat pattern and name representative of the rush-woven mats used for traditional Japanese flooring.

These 100% silk scarves are made in small batches with original designs created by Ellen that are then digitally printed and sewn locally in Scotland.

Measures approximately L48 x W48cm. Hand-wash only.
