Sgraffito Floral Mug
This large floral mug is thoughtfully crafted by Nottingham-based ceramist Naomi Grace in her garden studio. Naomi uses the skilful sgraffito technique to create a mug which is a work of art in its own right – it would make a wonderful, special gift to a loved one.
Derived from the Italian term 'to scratch', sgraffito is a decorative method where time is taken to carefully etch away a layer of coloured slip glaze, revealing the natural stoneware clay underneath – it's a similar style to relief lino printing for artists. Naomi slowly etches her beautiful, original designs into every stoneware mug by hand, using her very own homemade coloured slip for decorating.
With its oversized form and unique design, this mug is meant to be used and cherished daily, whether you fill it with your morning coffee or marshmallow-topped hot chocolate.
As every mug is completely handmade, no two will be exactly the same in terms of size, shape and design, which only adds to their unique charm.
Measures approximately H10 x W11cm.
Sold individually.
